Dear friends and Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to Lisbon, Portugal, to celebrate the 41st IPPA Advanced Course in Paediatric Pathology. The meeting will be held between the 21st -27th September 2019 in the Hotel Olissippo Oriente, Parque das Nações, Lisbon. The Hotel Olissippo Oriente is located in Parque das Nacoes. This boutique hotel is within a 15-minute walk of Lisbon Casino and Lisbon Oceanarium. 

The academic programme is being prepared and it will cover topics in foetal, perinatal, placental, and paediatric pathology, and we are honoured with the presence of distinguished international as well as local speakers. For the opening session, a historian will lecture on the history of Lisbon.  The social activities include a city tour, as well as excursions to Sintra and to the Muscatel Cellar.  Sintra is a charming Portuguese town, and is the best day trip from Lisbon. Situated within the hills of the Serra de Sintra, found within this region are extravagant palaces, ruinous castles and opulent mansions.  During the Muscatel Cellar tour, we will get the chance to taste top quality wines and can try the famous “Moscatel do Setúbal”, a full, sweet Muscat wine, distinctively from this region.

Remember to bring suitable shoes for these excursions as we will enjoy walking around during the tours and the free afternoons.

The Gala Dinner will take place in Café Central, an historical building located near the river in Terreiro do Paço.

We hope that you will enjoy the course and that your interaction with your colleagues from many different countries will stimulate a creative exchange of ideas and will be personally rewarding.
